While we are always keen to embrace new technology,
at Central Coast Photographics we feel that there are occasions
where an Analogue or film camera gives better results than a Digital
camera in regard to the final output.
With the introduction of inexpensive ink jet
printers and software programs that allow editing, cropping and
manipulation of images, customers are able to have a final product
that is tailored to their personal needs. However, this comes
with the disadvanatge of not having your prints prepared using
a traditional WET Lab process: a process that we all used for
our exposed films to before the advent of Digital photography.
The results achieved by our lab have proved
outstanding time and time again, with true natural colours exposed
onto top quality photographic paper. Such colours are considered
to be of archival quality and last for many years provided they
are not exposed to heavy UV light (sunlight). This is in contrast
to the inks and papers used in the modern day ink jet printers
which will fade after only a few years.
All we ask before you buy a digital image print
is to consider the following:
- Are the colours crisp and natural?
- Does the image suffer from pixelation around
the limbs of the subjects, leaving a jagged edge?
- Is the image produced on archival quality
photographic paper?
- What guarantee can you obtain from the supplier
that the colours won't fade quickly?
- Impulse buying of digital prints is a photographer's
secret weapon in creating sales. Why not wait 2 weeks to look
at the alternative and then compare price, quality and value
for money.
- Bear in mind that the true archival quality
photographic product is actually less expensive than the die
sublimation or inkjet generics.
Of course, we leave the choice up to you
- all our work is done with print film.
